Find yourself not using your foam roller?

Here’s why Rest and Recovery is important, and other methods you can use to ensure the right R & R for you.

Rest and Recovery is important for your body and mind in many ways, including:

🫶 Injury prevention
Resting allows your body to repair and strengthen itself, which can help prevent injuries like chronic tendon injuries, bone stress injuries, and overuse injuries.
🫶Improved mental health
Resting allows you to clear your mind and enjoy activities outside of your sport.
🫶Reduced muscle soreness
Resting allows your body to flush out lactic acid that builds up during exercise, which can help reduce muscle soreness.
🫶Stronger muscles
Resting allows your muscles to heal and strengthen after the small tears that occur during exercise. Don’t worry – those little “tears” are good, they help us to build strength!
🫶Overtraining prevention
Resting prevents overtraining syndrome, which can occur when your body can’t keep up with the demands you’re placing on it.

So how can you Rest & Recover 🤔

Rest & Recovery doesn’t have to mean sitting down doing nothing. If you just don’t want to use your foamm roller, you either won’t (so no recovery) or you will and it will grate on you, causing more stress than benefit.
Remember point 2… 🫶Improved mental health. Rest & Recovery can come from anything leaves you feeling refreshed, calm, rejuvenated. It is an overall experience, not just a physical one.

Create a Rest & Recovery Menu

Simply allocate a little bit of time each week (put it in your diary, it is as important as that dental checkup, food shop, lunch meeting) and select something from your Rest & Recovery Menu that suits you at that time…
🫶 15 minutes reading with your feet up
🫶 20 minute walk
🫶 Pilates class
🫶 Use a trigger point massage ball
🫶 Have a bath
